I'd like to note that the reasons for guarding Medivh during the Black Morass (Opening of the Dark Portal) instance is that if the orcs never came, the SEPERATE (at the time) human nations would never have come together to create the Alliance. Sure it'd be peaceful... For a while. Some time later the Burning Legion would come along and obliterate the world thanks to lack of alliances and unprepared night elves. [People who actually read the quest dialogue will know this]
