Just because he's gone crazy/going to destroy outland? He's just doing it to help his people so why would his people kill him.
They worship the concept of who he was, which was the noble leader of the Sin'dorei, not who he has become in the last few years, which is a twisted servant of the Burning Legion. It's one thing to go to lengths to save your people... but the Burning Legion wants nothing more than to destroy everything that exists. There is no good there, so it would appear that his alliance with the Legion was for nothing more than his own personal benefit (more power!).
