It's odd that Gul'dan wasn't revealed as the TRUE antagonist of The Burning Crusade. We're already familiar enough with possession and corruption themes, I'm surprised he wasn't referred to as the ultimate Big Bad in the Illidan event.
Because, while Illidan is massively power-hungry and a bitter betty, he's got a few redeeming qualities. Besides looking like Darkness from Legend, fighting him is kind of: Why are we ere again? The She-Ra Crystal Dragons and the Zoidbergs say to? Oh ok. CHARGE!
The whole Draenor situation, including Karazhan and the Keepers of Time dungeons have lines leading back to the machinations of Gul'dan.
