The War of the Ancients isn't a what-if. It's what put that big spiraling thing known as the Maelstrom right in the middle of what was once a single continent.

It was Rhonin and Broxigar's being sent back through time to that point in Knaack's novels to do the hero bit that is a what-if.

Well yes, the War of the Ancients happened, of course. But the details as the novels tell them is not necessarily how any of it went down.
