I have a lore question that I can't figure out, really..
.. what are the Lich King's motives for, well, doing what he's doing? Is it just revenge? I honestly don't know, and this whole expansion pack is just making my brain hurt, much like the shoddy explanation for the sudden turnabout by Kael'thas and the wretched "he went mad with power" thing for Illidan in TBC..

Yeah, because the Lich King was a pretty nice guy in Warcraft 3. Honestly, some people pay no attention to the lore, and then claim it makes no sense.
What turn about for Kael? He did in TBC exactly what he did in W3. Use any and all means to protect his nearly extinct people. His mistake was thinking he was craftier than the Legion.
The Lich King is trying to bend the entire world under his domination, as Ner'zhul kind of went insane after decades of incorporeal torture, and now hates the living. Mixed up with Arthas (hereditary heir to a massive human kingdom), he/they think they are "the one true king"
