The lore is a bit of a convoluted mishmash actually with a lot of revisionism, compared to some other game's lore WoW is pretty much comic book stuff, but I guess that is the price for "living" inside an evolving world.

These articles however are fantastic and do put things around us into today's version of the timeline very well. They have increased my knowledge a lot.
