Kernel as in core. Kel'thuzad was always the core of the Cult of the Damned.

He probably actually meant 'kernel.' I'm just guessing because a colonel isn't a very high rank, and KT is the head of the Cult of the Damned, so he would have meant mage-general or some shit like that.

When he uses 'kernel' I think he means something like the core, or the center of it.
